Winds of Hunger
Winds of Hunger was written specifically for Elements of Horror Anthology. The requirements were that it had to be 500 words or less, and that it had to be based on one of the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, or Water.
Update: I thought this might be the case, but the editor for Elements of Horror confirmed it. The wind I used in the story was a little too remote from the element of air. She loved the story but rejected it because of that little detail. Now, having said that, I will see if I can find another market for it.
Update: I submitted this to 52 Stitches, but they didn't have a record of the submission. After three months and a couple of recent emails, we agreed that it's best to try other markets since 52 Stitches is closed to submissions now.
Update: Wow! This is the second piece of mine that will be published in the Daily Flash anthology (My Second Life was the first). Winds of Hunger will appear as the flash story for March 21st!
