My Second Life
My Second Life came out of a twenty-minute writing exercise I did with my daughter, Sarah, on March 7, 2009. It was really rough and choppy at first, but I think it smoothed out into a good story. It's about a guy who wakes up and doesn't know where he is. Everything seems familiar, but he can't quite put it all together.
Update: On Thursday, April 16, 2009, I received an email that Flash Fire 500 accepted My Second Life for publication. I will post an update once I find out more details.
Update: After giving the editor permission to publish My Second Life, they had it up the same day. You can go directly to my story by clicking here: http://flashfire500.blogspot.com/2009/04/my-second-life-by-doug-mcintire.html.
Update: I figured it's been long enough since this piece has been published that I began sending it out again. Time to see if I can get it published again.
Update: Wow! That was fast! In less than an hour, I received word that My Second Life was accepted and would be published in the Daily Flash anthology. It will appear as the flash story for October 1st!
Word Count: 459
