What is Author Websites? It's a place where I can highlight the websites of other authors I know or respect or both.

Scott Sigler

Okay, I can't claim that Scott Sigler is a friend of mine, but I have met him and had a lot of fun with him. He had a book signing for Infected in Houston, Texas on April 11, 2008 that I attended. My daughter asked him if he had any advice for a young author, and he took the time to talk to her after the signing (Scott gained big points for that one).

After the signing, we went on a pub crawl to the Two Rows Bar, where a group of us sat around and discussed a lot about podcasting, publishing, and writing in general. I really enjoyed spending time with Scott and can now say that I'm definitely a fan (he calls fans junkies) of his.

Scott has done several serialized novels in Podcast form. His current podcast is Nocturnal. He's also done some of his short stories as Podcasts. He calls them Bloodcast. His novel, Infected is currently out in hardcover. I've read it and I really liked it (see my review of it below).

I also like his web site at www.scottsigler.com.

The reason that I've included him as a resource is that I like what he's done on his web site and the way he includes his junkies in his stories. I also think that his use of special effects in his podcasts adds another dimension to the entire experience. And, I think that podcasts may be the direction that the publishing industry is moving toward. It's an interesting concept and worthy of further consideration.

Scott has inspired me to look into what it would take to start creating Podcasts. Stay tuned because maybe I will be trying it.

My Review of Infected by Scott Sigler
Fast Paced and Scary
Scott Sigler did a fine job crafting this novel. The pace is quick, the chapters are generally short and it's easy to read. The story is interesting, and what's worse, believable. It definitely gives the imagination fodder to worry about. If you're a fan of horror and science fiction, then I highly recommend that you include Infected in your "must read" list!

Peter Mark May

Peter Mark May is the author of Demon.

His web site is www.freewebs.com/darkside6869/index.htm.

I've read Demon and I liked it.

My Review of Demon by Peter Mark May
Creepy and Surreal
I didn't know what to expect when I picked up "Demon" by Peter Mark May, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Peter interwove demons from Hell into a modern setting, with style and grace. The pace was consistent and the narrative was easy to follow. It was a nice change of pace from the normal hack-and-slash horror that seems to permeate the market these days. "Demon" left me with the possibility that it really could happen. Well done, Peter.

Cory Doctorow

Cory Doctorow is one of the original authors who promoted giving away free novels. His current book is Little Brother.

His web site is craphound.com.

He is also the co-editor of the weblog boingboing.net.

I've read Little Brother and I liked it.

My Review of Little Brother by Cory Doctorow
A Glimpse at What Could Happen
Cory Doctorow came through with a good book. It was a little slow at times, but usually picked up the pace again rather quickly. He did a good job turning the technical details into lay-terms so they were easy to understand and didn't hijack the storyline. His ideas were certainly plausible, which makes the whole story of Little Brother pretty frightening if you think about it. Good job Cory!

J.C. Hutchins

I've added J.C. Hutchins because of his work with podcasting and serialized novels. His 7th Son trilogy were some of the first serialized novels available as podcasts and they are still available for free.

Seth Harwood

I've added Seth Harwood because, like Scott Sigler and J.C. Hutchins, his work is changing the face of publishing and the way authors reach readers through the Internet and podcasting. His latest novel, Jack Wakes Up, is available in book stors (hardcover) or in Adobe .pdf versions that can be found on the Internet for free.

His web site at sethharwood.com.
