55 Words

55 Words is a web site, kind of like Six Sentences. The idea is that whatever you write is 55 words, exactly.

Update: On Monday, May 18, 2009, I found out that the site is no longer accepting guest submissions. I guess that means I won't be submitting any 55-word stories anymore.

Update: On Wednesday, July 8, 2009, Holly, one of my coworkers, loaned me the book The World's Shortest Stories. When I looked at it, I thought they were drabbles (stories of exactly 100 words) but as I looked closer, I realized that they were 55 word stories. It started me thinking about 55 words again. Then...on Thursday, July 9, 2009, I realized that FlashShot publishes stories that are 100 words or less. The "or less" part intrigued me and when I looked, I saw that there were 55 word stories. Now that I have a market for 55 words, I may have to start writing them again.

Somehow, I thought I would know what to do. You sit around and talk about it with your friends. At one time, I'm sure I had known, but now, sitting in the doctor's office, I had no idea what I was going to do when he told me I only had ten days to live.

Five sets of twenty repetitions on the free weights. It was a good workout today, but as I was putting the weights up, I dropped one of the big twenty pounders on my toe. Son of a bitch that hurt! Somehow I don’t think that’s what they meant when they said "no pain, no gain."
